Hi Marie,Thank you for sharing your feedback on our MH500 4P Stainless Steel Camp Cookset 3.5 L.We're sorry to hear that you encountered issues with the plastic parts of the set.We chose polyamide (cutlery and handle), polypropylene (plate, mugs), Tritan (lid), and silicone (t
rivet) because they are lightweight and very resistant to heat (at least 100°C), impacts, and deformation. However, keep plastics out of direct contact with flames or they may melt.The plastic also help prevent heat transfer when you have hot content and have to put the plates on your lap for example and adds durability to the set. We want to share some cleaning tips for your set to help with some of the issues you mentioned:Before first use, rinse all the items 3 times with fresh water.After using it, wash the parts in soapy water (preferably warm), then dry them before storing them in a dry place.All the parts are dishwasher safe, however we recommend that you hand-wash your frying pan and pot (to protect the coating). Also avoid abrasive scrubbers or sand when cleaning the inside of cookware.
