Water repellency is a material’s ability to shed water without absorbing it. 
Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. 
This treatment needs to be reapplied during the life of the garment (recommended every three washes). 

Water-repellent properties

We recommend using the three-layer technique for your winter activities: 
Layer 1: A technical base layer that wicks away moisture to keep your skin dry.
Layer 2: An insulating layer (T-shirt, fleece) that provides warmth and wicks moisture outward.
Layer 3: An outer layer (jacket) that protects against the elements (wind, snow, cold).

The feet, hands, and head are the most exposed parts of the body and the parts most in need of protection.

Did you know that the wind makes you feel colder? An outdoor temperature of 0°C with a wind speed of 20 km/h (12 mph) feels like -10°C.Windproof features reduce windchill by blocking airflow and wind.

Why should you protect yourself from the wind?

To avoid feeling damp, wear breathable clothing that allows perspiration to evaporate. 
We measure our clothing’s evaporative resistance (RET) 
RET < 6: extremely breathable, ideal for high-intensity activity
 RET 6–12: very breathable, suitable for moderate-intensity activity
 RET 12–20: moderately breathable, not suitable for intense activity RET
 > 20: not very breathable and therefore not suitable for physical activity
 RET > 40: not breathable
