The properties of wool

Merino sheep, originally from Spain, have been bred carefully over many generations for their wool. It provides a softer fibre than traditional wool. After shearing, the wool is cleaned to remove impurities, then carded, spun, and finally used for knitting or weaving.

The fabric is treated to ensure water repellency. The treatment prevents water from staying on the fabric’s surface and limits its ability to absorb water. Water runs off the fabric. Thanks to the fabric’s water-repellent properties, water does not soak into it.

Why wear fleece gloves?

The thermal resistance test shows the loss of heat between the body and the outside, indicating the insulating properties of the product. It uses a thermal hand with sensors that measure the retention of body heat.

How is thermal comfort measured?

Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off the surface without seeping in. These gloves are fully water-repellent. In the event of light rain or snow, your children’s hands will stay dry.

We perform comparative studies carried out in a thermal laboratory, in walking conditions with light winds (5 km/h or 3 mph). This is how we measure the thermal resistance of our boots. Everyone feels the cold differently.
Comfort temperature: felt slightly cold and 70% of users find the thermal sensation acceptable on their feet.
Limit temperature: felt very cold and 10% of users consider the thermal sensation acceptable on their feet.

Will these boots be warm enough for your child’s winter hikes?

These boots have a membrane to guarantee waterproofing and breathability. A membrane is a very thin component applied to the inner surface of the fabric that prevents water from entering while allowing moisture to escape.
We tested this product in a laboratory simulating walking with the feet half immersed.

Are my boots 100% waterproof?

The material and tread of Snow Contact soles are specifically designed for optimal grip and traction. Snow Contact soles are more effective on snow than traditional soles. When walking on ice, adding crampons to your boots is the only way to ensure optimum safety.

What are the advantages of Snow Contact technology?

This product was lab-tested by our engineers to ensure your total satisfaction. We tested the following elements: tear resistance of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, and accelerated aging.

Will my boots withstand regular use in the long term?

To stay warm when hiking in the winter, we recommend the following principles: 
Warmth: wear warm socks (ideally with a good percentage of wool).
 Breathability: choose socks based on the intensity of the hike and, to minimize moisture, make sure they’re breathable.
Boot height: the height of the sock should correspond to the height of the boot—for more protection, choose higher socks.

How do I choose the right footwear for hiking in the snow?

How to preserve the technical qualities of the boots

Boots can become heavy if you wear them in wet conditions (through condensation and perspiration).
If your boots are very wet, remove the insole and fill the upper with balls of newspaper, changing them regularly. The paper will absorb the moisture and dry them faster.
Never place your boots too close to a heat source. Leave them in a warm, dry, and ventilated place instead.

Water rolls off without being absorbed so the garment remains light, breathable, and warm. Please note, this does not mean it is waterproof.
The treatment should be reapplied to remain effective. Use sprays that are applied to the outside, rather than additives used when washing the garment, which can damage the product's breathability.

the membrane is a polyurethane layer sandwiched between the softshell jacket’s inner and outer fabrics. It protects you from the wind, ensuring your body heat doesn’t escape. This membrane is also breathable: it wicks perspiration to the outside of the garment through its microscopic pores, preventing moisture build-up and keeping you warm and dry!
