The adjustment dial is key to keeping your child’s helmet secure. The dial allows for easy and precise adjustments, even with gloves on. It also provides maximum comfort and safety. Turn the dial to the right to tighten and to the left to loosen.

Adjustment dial

Helmets used for head protection when downhill skiing and snowboarding are required to meet European standards. The standards test the helmet’s ability to absorb shocks and resist perforation. The two categories are:
- Class A: Protects the top and back of the head as well as the ears and side of the head
.- Class B: Protects the top and back of the head but does not cover the ears.

ABS structure

* Measure the circumference of your child’s head in centimetres (around the middle of the forehead and just above the ears). 
* Then choose the size that corresponds to this measurement. 
Example: if the circumference of your child’s head is 49 cm (19”), they should try a helmet in size 48–52 cm (18.9”–20.47”).

Which size?

Take all the time needed to try it on properly. Your child shouldn’t feel any discomfort. If they do, try another helmet. 

Fitting

When skiing, your helmet should be properly fitted and adjusted:
* It is essential to choose the right size.
* The head circumference must be adjusted using the adjustment dial.
* The chinstrap must be properly adjusted.
It’s a bit like a car seat belt: If it is too loose, it will not perform its function and your child will not be properly protected.

Helmet adjustment

Visor helmets are comfortable and practical. We recommend them for young skiers who ski at moderate speed. They are less windproof than a ski mask, which perfectly moulds to the nose and face. If your child skis very fast, air can get in their helmet and it can be unpleasant.

Special visor helmet feature

Your child shouldn’t wear a thick hat under the helmet, as this reduces protection. 
Instead, choose a very thin beanie or balaclava. A helmet has good insulating properties. There is often no point in adding anything else. Avoid attaching a camera to the helmet as the extra weight can affect safety. The standard does not take into account any elements added to the helmet.

Safety

Skiing should be accessible to all, including skiers who wear prescription glasses. The Wedze visor helmet is more practical than an over-the-glasses ski mask. Due to issues with glasses size, some helmets remain incompatible. Your child should try on helmets while wearing their glasses.
