This shirt would be excellent as a base layer. It is very soft and stretchy. The fit in the pictures is pretty accurate- it's a bit like clingfilm through the body with more room in the arms. Didn't suit my purposes (didn't like the clingy fit), but perhaps for running it is i

Extremely comfortable! I got 2 of these (pink and grey) and can highly recommend if you are looking for a comfortable layer that is breathable but at the same time keeps you warm on a cold day.
