What type of grip do the NH 500 Hiking Shoes have?

For hiking, it’s best to go one size up from your child’s usual shoe size. This will ensure optimal comfort on the way down and prevent the toes from hitting the end the shoe. Tip: keep your child’s nails short and, before going downhill, check that their hook and loop straps and/or laces are properly fastened to prevent their foot from sliding forward.

How do I choose the right size?

Allow children to try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks they will be wearing while hiking. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot while going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. 
We recommend gradually breaking in the NH 500 Hiking Shoes on your first few outings. That way, they’ll be worn in.
