This warm jacket protects you from the wind and about 30 minutes of light rain or snow. The fabric used is an assembly of 3 materials: A breathable, windproof, microporous membrane sandwiched between the water-repellent exterior and the warm, comfortable fleece inner lining.

What is softshell?

The wind can make you feel considerably colder. An outside temperature of 0°C with 20 km/h (12 mph) winds feels like -10°C. Windproof components offset the discomfort associated with this freezing effect. This gear is very effective at reducing heat loss by creating a barrier against the wind.

The main fabric used in the jacket, except for the sides, has a windproof membrane.

Breathability

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to let water run off its surface without being absorbed.
This keeps the fabric from soaking up water so it stays lightweight and breathable. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface; however, this property may deteriorate with use.
Water repellency can be reactivated by putting the item in the dryer for 10 minutes on low heat.
