The filling for the lining has three essential qualities for hiking:
- good thermal insulation capacity, even when wet
- breathability and is recommended for dynamic activity (down is recommended for static activity)
- good compressibility: padding is highly compressible.

Synthetic padding provides insulation.

This functional feature is obtained by applying a hydrophobic treatment to the fabric. This process means that water rolls off the fabric without being absorbed. As a result, the garment remains lightweight, breathable, and warm.
This treatment can be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Apply sprays on the outside instead of using additives during washing, as these additives can damage the product’s breathability.
