 For classic cross-country skiing, the poles are smaller.

They can be made of various materials.
Aluminum: sturdy and heavy, ideal for beginners
. Fibreglass: lighter, but more fragile
. Carbon fibre and other materials: extremely light and rigid.

For skate skiing, there are two ways to choose your pole size: 

1- Choose poles that are the height of your shoulders.
2 - Multiply your height in cm by 0.89 to work out the size of your poles.
