Compatibility

The adjustment dial is key to keeping your child’s helmet secure. The dial allows for easy and precise adjustments, even with gloves on. It also provides maximum comfort and safety. Turn the dial to the right to tighten and to the left to loosen.

The helmet has an injection-moulded, ABS outer shell to withstand powerful impacts. High resistance to bumps and knocks. The internal Epos skullcap absorbs impact during collisions. Change your child’s ski helmet at least every five years or after it has sustained a significant impact.

ABS structure

Helmets used for head protection when downhill skiing and snowboarding are required to meet European standards.      The standards test the helmet’s ability to absorb shocks and resist perforation. The two categories are:
- Class A: Protects the top and back of the head as well as the ears and side of the head
- Class B: Protects the top and back of the head but does not cover the ears.

EN 1077 standard

* Measure the circumference of your child’s head in centimetres (around the middle of the forehead and just above the ears). 
* Then choose the size that corresponds to this measurement. 
Example: if the circumference of your child’s head is 49 cm (19”), they should try a helmet in size 48 cm-52 cm (18.9”-20.5”).

Which size?

Take plenty of time to try it on properly. Your child shouldn’t feel any discomfort. If they do, try another model. Always get them to try the helmet with their mask, because not all helmets go with all masks. A helmet is compatible with a ski mask when there are no gaps between the top of the goggles and the helmet.

When skiing, your helmet should be properly fitted and adjusted:
* It is essential to choose the right size.
* The head circumference should be adjusted using the adjustment dial.
* The chinstrap must be properly adjusted.
It’s a bit like a car seat belt: If it is too loose, it will not work as designed and your child will not be properly protected.

Helmet adjustment

Your child shouldn’t wear a thick hat under the helmet, as this reduces protection. 
Opt for a very thin beanie or balaclava. Helmets have good insulating properties. Often, nothing else is needed. Do not attach a camera to the helmet, as the extra weight can affect safety. The standard does not take into account any elements added to the helmet.
